July 31, 2009. DUBAI, United Arab Emirates. Forsythe Transportation worked as part of an international consortium to assist the Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) in an effort to privatize its public transit bus operations.
Under the lead consulting team, Arup Gulf Ltd, the project is headed by Ian Wallis, noted transportation privatisation consultant based in New Zealand. Forsythe Transportation was included in the consulting team due to Bill Forsythe's role in creating and managing Foothill Transit, a highly successful US transit privatization development in Southern California.
Phase 1 of the work was completed with submittal of a report that documented the viability of contracting public transit bus operations. Forsythe Transportation contributed in areas of: international experience and best practices; development and analysis of alternative business models; and developing the contents of tendering (contracting) documents.
Phase 2 - the completion of the contracting process - is expected to begin within a few weeks
